Fast friendly service. Good food at good prices. It is small inside so would not suggest for large groups wishing to dine in but I did see on their menu they have carry out service. Bar has good selection of spirits and beer.
Ribs are excellent. Too heavily sauced for my taste, which hides the smoked flavor, so I suggest you request sauce on the side. The smoked flavor is excellent on it's own. Pulled pork also very good. Baked beans are tasty but overpriced for the approximately three tablespoons included with take-out. For a more balanced menu, I would like to see a vegetable offered, such as steamed broccoli or other easy to prepare veggie.
Second time was better then the first trip , saying that I get it’s a smoke house but one trip to a southern state would suggest a lot more sauce could be used and with a variety of flavors not just one kind because your saving money doing so . Having said that I truly enjoyed the smoke flavor but with only a dab of sauce and no squirt bottle handy and having to ask for more then getting a little cup of spicy sauce to add its just way to dry for my liking so when I got home I put some sweet baby rays on it and absolutely loved it . I usually get take out as I’m an older fart and it seems like a younger generation ritzy sports bar scene then a true smokehouse aka barbecue place . I get callIng it a smokehouse might draw a higher clientele but really ? We’re in gaylord here . I’m anxious to read how I’m wrong from the owner who seems to be to critical and take things personal instead of compromising and adjusting to what the true barbecue enthusiast wants . My opinion only but food doesn’t match the price . Being in northern Michigan this place has the potential to be a chain but not without changes .
We'd actually started at another 'recently reorganized' downtown establishment and after waiting nearly 5 minutes to be seated and not seeing even one other person... We left and went to The Iron Pig. So glad we did! Great food, great service. Clean with a mellow atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Nice. Food was very tasty. Nice smoke flavor, not overdone. Sauce was great too. Great service. All around good experience.
