We just returned from the Otsego Club & Resort. We stayed in the Blue Spruce Lodge. The door to our room had no extra lock. There was a dead bolt but no mechanism to operate it. One kick or shoulder push would open the door quite easily. We couldn't believe there was no small fridge in the room. During the past fifteen years I have stayed in many different hotels and motels and there was always a small fridge in every room I stayed in. Our room was a non smoking room but it was very obvious this room had occupied many smokers. Since we had a Car'ls golf land certificate we played the Classic golf course. The course needs attention very badly. The sand traps have not been raked or weeded this year. There were no towels on any of the ball washers, not one. It was our first time playing this course and on a four or five occasions we had no idea where the next tee-off was. A few signs would solve this problem. They are cheap to make so what's the problem? The course has four sets of tees, back, middle, forward and front. The first three I mentioned were usually no more than ten yards apart and on the same level. The front tees appeared to be thrown on the fairways, not tee boxes, everywhere and anywhere. Our GPS would not work on this course. We found out later that some of the holes were changed around. There are many beautiful courses and nice places to stay in this area. Unfortunately, the Classic golf course and the Blue Spruce Lodge are in dire need of attention. I would not recommend the above golf course or Lodge to anyone.
What a beautiful view. There mountain for skiing in amazing. Some of the best skiing in northern Michigan. Great place to bring family and friends for a vacation.
Love this place! So glad to have new ownership to keep this gem alive. Now that it’s public everyone needs to experience Hidden Valley!
We had a group of 20 at the Otsego Resort for a week of golf and fun just in the past couple of weeks. It was absolutely amazing. Bob Wilson, Sales Director, went out of his way to make our group welcome, accommodating such a large group with ease. Our suites were wonderful (housed in the Hilltop Lodge), our meals were exemplary (thanks so much to Sara and Chef Ray and their helpers), the housekeeping staff (led by Jennifer) were absolutely amazing, the golf pro (James Marshall) was so very kind and helpful, other staff (Rose on the front Desk, Heather (or Jamie) on the front desk, Alison, Danielle, Mike, John) and many more all helped to make this the most memorable experience for our golf group. Thank you so very much. We hope to make Otsego Resort our "go to" place every year! The golf courses in the Gaylord area are amazing, but our favourite out of the five we played was The Tribute right at Otsego! Thanks again, Otsego, for an absolutely wonderful vacation.
As a bonus, we got our 4WD truck stuck in a drift at the end of the day. John (employee) brought his off road truck over and pulled us out! Thanks, John!!!
Went skiing here for only the second time in j my life today. Took my two kids and their grandpa. Good variety of runs, with good vertical and some challenging slopes (there are a number of double black diamonds). Multiple quality terrain parks. The lodge has that “Up North” feel with many fireplaces and a good menu. With Boyne raising its rates seemingly every year, this presents a good alternative for families wanting to enjoy a good time skiing or snowboarding! We will be back...by far the most convenient place to ski close to Gaylord.
